  mission with vision

What Oil is to Gulf can be herbs for Indian economy subjected to various parameters and conditions which need to be addressed immediately through an integrated effort from Government, science fraternity and farmers. Nevertheless, our vast geographical area, different biodiversities, large rural population will prove to be blessing in disguise for achieving this goal.

People in developing countries like India are already and will increasingly depend on medicinal plants as sources for their primary health care. An estimated by the World Health Organization that more than 80% of the world's population relies solely or largely on traditional remedies for health care is frequently cited. So, therefore, it is the need of the hour to take proper initiatives to solve the issues related with in situ, ex situ conservation of medicinal plants, cultivation of important herbs, global trading, indigenous knowledge, its validation and value addition with the help of continuous clinical trials and knowledge protection (IPR), etc.

Abhumka’s 3P Model of functioning

We believe in patient research and impatient execution in translation of tribal’s traditional knowledge because of the following reasons:

Biopiracy:
This mission would establish the fact backed by the documentary evidence over the presence of particular herbs and medicinal plants in our country and relevant practices towards it. This will prevent the grassroots knowledge holders from being the victim of biopiracy.

Last Generation of Aging Traditional healers:  The present generation of Bhagats in Dang & Bhumkas in Patalkot is already in their 80s and 90s. If we fail to document their knowledge in a stipulated time, it would be a great loss to the country.

Herbal economy: The vital discovery of herbs and its practices would help the country in formulation and commercial development of the drugs derived from plants. This proven demand of a particular herb towards the developed drug would encourage its cultivation, thus, generating lot of direct and indirect rural employment. This project will be decisive factors towards redefining the economics of phytomedicines and organic cultivation of medicinal plants in India.

Future growth: Needles to discuss the huge market size of phyto-medicines globally which is consistently been accelerating @ 20%.
